Bowes Vintage
Is yet another superb addition to the independent, quirky, vintage, retro-classic scene for the modern “beautiful” people. (Don’t take me literally on that word, it’s a meaning with it’s roots in sixties hippy-culture but I’ll leave you to do your own research.)
 The shop was dreamt of, devised and opened by two sisters with a passion for fashion and style in general, and the name of the shop was taken from their surname.
They’ve combined their love and talent for music and fashion to create an exciting concept shop. (Sarah has a BA in Fashion and Katie is part of infamous Hull-band, Kill Surf City.
Although I hate using this word, this shop is truly eclectic because it doesn’t specify that it deals in just one genre of style.
Sure, there are clothes in here, lots of them, in all shapes, colours, styles and sizes and most of them are gorgeous, but there are also music-related items and artefacts, interesting pieces of furniture and all sorts of accessories that the girls think, well, just fit in with the philosophy of the shop really.
They just want the place to be vibrant, exciting and interesting and that is definitely what they’ve achieved. Because of this broad-mindedness they’ve been attracting a really wide and varied customer base since opening recently and everybody can be catered for because Sarah specialises in bespoke clothing to suit the individual.
This place has been a long-held dream and ambition of the girls who are passionate and excited about this venture… and so they should be, because, as these brilliant documentary-style photographs illustrate (who took these by the way?) they’ve already created an enclave of unique originality.
